Maurice's parents had experienced expansive lives before he was born. His Moorish and Scottish ancestry along with the influence of his sisters, who were
twelve and fifteen years older, gave him a wider perception throughout his formative years.
Being the youngest of the family, with a playful personality, little Bobby, as he was called, started out in a neighborhood that was close to many beaches and a large city park. He was a very likable child, who found this enhanced environment a
perfect place to chase day dreams while fostering new ones.
Little Bobby’s imagination collided continuously with the restrictive attitudes of formal education which in turn found him too much of a slippery spirit to hold onto for any worthwhile
period. As he entered his early years as a youth, formality finally relented and
washed his remnants off its hands entirely. Maurice went back to complete his studies with motivation for the information, not the certificates; a
quality he has to this day, the need to understand everything while never believing
it is possible to truly know anything at all.
Since he had started playing the piano at four and was well
conditioned as a performer in every aspect, in his teenage years he began
to perform with a succession of five rock bands until in his early
twenties he started playing solo in lounges, cafes and at private functions.
But it was his love of writing that became his true passion.
Little Bobby’s imagination was secured in the hands of Maurice who had become
an accomplished artist.
Soon after, Maurice began to teach music privately finding it so
fulfilling that when combined with his other creative endeavors,
his outlook on things began to focus on what we all share as humans. He found
himself evolving as he was discovering his personal purpose; to contribute his art
as it reflects those similar aspects we all find in our various lives.
To date, he has penned hundreds of songs, music compositions, poems, plays, short stories and other assortments of material. However, it's Maurice's three books that he believes has brought his separate selves together in this
most enriching of all his creative experiences.
His life has attained that contentment that can only be
found when an individual begins to believe in themselves, a lesson to all of
us on the principle of personal enlightenment.
